I Fear the Deer

I am terrified of deer!  I know you are thinking, that's ridiculous, deer are completely innocent creatures.  Whatever!  Deer give me the creeps for two reasons:

1.  I watched that episode of When Animals Attack where that man was attacked by a fighting deer.  That deer stood up on two feet and boxed that man like he was some dude on the street!
2.  When I was in high school I was driving to my friend's house one night and I happened upon several deer in the middle of the road.  Well my headlights apparently blinded one of them, and he went ballistic.  The deer commenced to actually chase after my car.  I had to burn rubber in a 360 degree motion to get away from it.  It was literally the scariest moment I have ever had in a car.

Moving on to my deer experience today which is why I am writing this post...

I was walking to my friend's house, and I spotted a deer across the street on the corner.  The deer then met eyes with me.  Do you know that sucker started toward me.  My heart started beating fast, sweat beads started to fall, and I walked as fast as I could back to the house.  I literally fell into the front door screaming.  My mother thought I was crazy (she still thinks I'm crazy).

Can you believe that fricken deer tried to punk me?  It was like he smelled the fear.  I really can't stand deer.  They are starting to get a little too bold.  Do you think they might be getting together to stage a revolution to take back their habitat?

I'm so sorry, but I can't stop laughing. and I agree with Christie, I'm thinking having a helmet cam on wherever you go, could make you some big bucks, and might just be fashionable... :)

Oh I have missed you and your posts. Interesting that today Ella was yelling Momma Momma from her car seat today and I look and there's a doe getting ready to cross the road. Thank goodness Ella yelled @ me cause I locked up my brakes and missed her. Deer are just really big rats. Their not the least bit endangered and I think hunters should be able to get extra deer tags during hunting season and then donate the meat to homeless shelters.

okay so deer are not small animals..and I'm with you..afraid of the deer...even though they regularly frequent my parent yard, I steer clear...they're big and strong and wild...I don't like big wild animals...I don't like small wild animals...I just don't like wild animals, period....they're prone to doing what they need to do to survive...and so am I, so I stay outta their way.

I wonder why deer have it out for you so bad, lol

I thought they were a timid creature. Apparently I was wrong!

LOL, ok I'm sorry but you're hysterical! I've only seen deer a couple times up in Syracuse during grad school and they never tried to jump me. And I don't think there are too many roaming the streets of NYC so I should be safe...until they storm the city that is.

I'm with you! We have deer in our yard all the time. The other day we were outside with my girls, and a baby deer started walking toward us! We saw the mama deer watching, and I was so scared she was going to charge us to protect her baby!
So we ran away from the baby deer, lol!

This is too funny! When I was in college a few people were chased by the deers on our campus. I don't really care for wild life. Regardless if they are afraid of me.

Hey Lady, LOL!!! This is hysterical, :) Listen I'm feeling you about the deer. Growing up in Jersey there were always deer jumping out and won day I saw one smash right into this car in front of me and it was like a train crash!
When I lived in VA I wouldn't go out at night cause I could not see them!!! You did the right thing girl runnnnnn when you see one!!!!

I think the revolt is already in the makings....but you shouldn't be scared. Maybe they'll let some of us stick around if we're extra sweet to them. :) I always have to laugh when I read about other people's animal fears. There's another blogger that has a REAL problem with geese. I find it funny.

What happened? Did the deer get the best of you in the end? I haven't seen any new posts from you lately.

I'm worried. Very, very worried.

I'm also really laughing.

Joan! It was so good to hear from you! How are you? Busy w/ work??

I had to laugh at this post because I don't know anyone who has almost gone toe to toe w/ a deer, or have come across them so closely as you!!

That was funny. I guess we all have things that we are afraid of. LOL We have so many deer here in NY and I am sick of Lyme Disease from all the deer ticks. My husband has been so sick for the past few weeks with it. Horrible.

You totally crack me up!! I grew up with deer all around and they are the sweetest things! Do you have some funky salt licks near by or something?!

I've missed you girl!! Congrats on being featured and glad you had so much fun with the Suave party! How cool!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like deer. I'm not particularly afraid of them, I just don't like them (at all.) I agree that they should be sent back to a place where they actually have predators. (Whoa. That just made sound very anti-animal, which I'm not. Only anti-deer.)
